Services

Work with me.

Advice, training and assurance for legal teams and other professional services. I help you choose the tools, prepare the people using them, and check the results.

I advise and teach; I do not build systems for clients. Select a service below for the scope of the work.

01

Advice on technology and change

Managing partners, heads of practice, general counsel, COOs and innovation leads, in law and in other professional services.

Decide where AI can help, compare products on your own work and test a pilot before extending its use.

  • Review the tasks, people and risks to decide where to start.
  • Define approval steps, access controls and records of how the tools are used.
  • Map which data may go to a cloud service, which must stay local and which should be excluded.
  • Compare vendors using tests based on your work.
  • Run pilots with agreed measures of quality, time and review effort.
02

Training and education

Lawyers using, supervising or building AI tools.

Workshops, the LegalQuants AI Residency and individual mentoring, from getting started with AI to building an agent for your own work.

  • Half-day and full-day workshops using your tools and documents you have permission to use.
  • The LegalQuants AI Residency, LegalQuants' four-week programme in which lawyers build a tool with a mentor. Jamie Tso runs it; I am its programme director from Cohort 4 in November 2026. Places, fees and contracts are with LegalQuants. About LegalQuants and the Residency →
  • One-to-one mentoring for lawyers building their first tool. My teaching experience and approach →
  • Exercises tested before they are taught and updated as the tools change.

Verification and assurance

Disputes teams, funders and teams preparing material for courts or regulators.

Check citations and source references, test outputs against known answers and record how results were produced.

  • Citation checks that distinguish verified results, errors and citations that cannot be verified.
  • Source references retained through drafting so a reviewer can trace a claim to the relevant passage.
  • Checks in code for requirements that can be tested automatically, with review of the remaining judgements.
  • Tests grouped by task and document type to identify where a tool struggles.
  • Records of the source material, processing steps and checks behind an output.

Illustrative check · invented document

Does the source support the claim?

Source: “The board approved the pilot on 12 March.”

Verified
“The pilot was approved on 12 March.” The statement matches the source.
Wrong
“The pilot was approved on 15 March.” The date conflicts with the source.
Not verifiable
“The pilot cost £20,000.” This source does not establish the cost.

A missing answer stays unresolved. The reviewer needs the source, the claim and the reason for the verdict.

Specifying bespoke work

Teams with requirements their existing products cannot meet.

Decide whether to configure, buy or commission, write the brief, choose the builder, keep data under control and set the tests the result must pass.

  • Decide whether a requirement is best met by configuration, a product or something built for you, and what each would cost to run and supervise.
  • Write the specification: the documents it works on, the workflow around it, the checks it must perform and the records it must keep.
  • Choose who builds it, including lawyers trained through LegalQuants where that is the right fit, and agree acceptance tests before work starts.
  • Keep data where it must stay, including local processing where confidentiality requires it.
  • Test what comes back against known answers before anyone relies on it.
05

Off-the-shelf tools

Teams assessing new products or making better use of existing licences.

Help configuring and assessing Claude, ChatGPT and Astra for Law, Microsoft 365 Copilot and CoCounsel.

  • Claude, ChatGPT and Astra for Law, Microsoft 365 Copilot, CoCounsel: configuration, skills, plugins and connectors.
  • Prompts and skills that a team can test, version and share.
  • Compare outputs on your tasks, including the time needed to check and correct them.
  • Assess product updates and whether they change what your team should do.
